Husband-wife duo Sebastian Zutant (former partner and beverage director at DC favorites Red Hen and All Purpose) and Lauren Winter (half of the DC restaurant design powerhouse Edit Lab) opened this French-inspired wine bar in DC’s Brookland neighborhood in November 2017. Sebastian and Lauren chose to focus on France for the project because, to them, France does pretty much everything the best – wine, cheese, bread, cured meats, architecture and art. Their wine list showcases wines from France as well as Virginia, where Sebastian makes his own wine with Early Mountain Vineyards, and features around 75 offerings by the bottle and more than 15 options by the glass. Guest can enjoy a small French bistro-style menu by Chef Nathan Beauchamp, which includes comfort food classics like coq au vin, steak frites, beef bourguignon and French onion soup as well as charcuterie and cheese plates. The cozy, 65-seat space features floor-to-ceiling windows that open fully to the sidewalk patio during the warmer months, ostrich feather chandeliers, and a beautiful turquoise bar. Stop by our chef’s table this weekend to see what they’re cooking up at the Bloomindale farmers market!
