Bring your kitchen to the market
We host live cooking demos and pop-up food vendors at both markets, and we're booking the 2026 season now.
Two ways to be in the chef tent
1. Cook a demo
Demo slots are unpaid, but the upside is real: you get an engaged crowd of food enthusiasts, free pick-of-the-market produce at vendor prices, and a name-check in the next week's market communications. Past demo chefs have come from Kapnos, The Dabney, Thip Khao, Pizzeria Vetri, Sweetgreen, Matchbox, Boundary Stone, and many DC-area independents. We also book cookbook authors, food educators, kids' cooking programs, and home cooks with a strong seasonal practice.
A demo runs about an hour. You walk the market, pick what looks good, cook a short recipe, talk through it with the crowd, and hand out tastes and recipe cards. We provide the table, hot plates, and a sound system. You bring your knives and your point of view.
To pitch a demo, email [email protected] with: what you'd like to cook, which weekends work, and a short bio or link to your work.
2. Apply as a pop-up food vendor
Pop-up food vendors actually sell food at the market — prepared dishes, baked goods, drinks, condiments, hot sauce, frozen meals, snacks. Past pop-ups include Vietnamese pho, Persian baklava, Greek pies, vegan dog treats, plant-based protein bars, Korean rice balls, gluten-free bagels, Belgian chocolates, and Trinidadian hot sauce. We curate to complement (not compete with) our regular farmers.
Pop-up vendors pay a per-attendance stall fee. You can apply for a single weekend, a monthly recurring slot, or full-season attendance. We particularly welcome DC-based small businesses, women-owned and minority-owned businesses, and vendors with a clear story or specialty.
To apply as a pop-up, see our full vendor application page or email [email protected].
What we look for
- Quality — you're proud of what you make and customers come back.
- Story — you can explain in two sentences what makes your food different.
- Reliability — for recurring slots, you can commit to showing up.
- Fit — you complement our farmers, you don't undercut them.
