Hours, directions, and what to bring
A quick guide to making the most of a morning at the 14&U or Bloomingdale farmers market.
First time at the market? Here is everything you need to shop comfortably at either the 14&U or Bloomingdale farmers market, from how to get there to what to bring.
Hours
- 14&U Farmers Market — Saturdays, 9am to 1pm, May through November.
- Bloomingdale Farmers Market — Sundays, 9am to 1pm, year-round.
We run rain or shine. A little weather rarely stops our farmers, though a heavy storm may thin the vendor lineup.
Getting here
Both markets sit in walkable DC neighborhoods and are easiest to reach without a car. The closest Metro and several bus lines drop you within a few blocks, and there is bike parking nearby. Street parking exists but fills fast on a sunny morning, so transit or two wheels will save you the circling. Full directions and a map are on each market page: 14&U and Bloomingdale.
What to bring
- A sturdy tote or two. Produce adds up quickly.
- A mix of payment types. Cards work at most stalls, but cash keeps the line moving and some small producers prefer it. See paying at our markets for the full rundown.
- Your EBT card if you use SNAP. Visit the welcome tent for Bonus Bucks matching.
- A reusable water bottle and, in summer, a hat. The markets are open-air.
Accessibility
Both market sites are on level, paved ground with step-free access throughout. The welcome tent is staffed every market day and is the best first stop if you have questions or need a hand.
Dogs and kids
Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome in the open market areas, though we ask that they stay clear of produce tables. Kids are very welcome. Many of our cooking demos and seasonal events are built with families in mind.
Quick questions
Do I need cash? Not strictly, but it helps. Can I use SNAP? Yes, at both markets, with dollar-for-dollar matching up to $10. Is parking available? Limited street parking only; transit is easier. Are pets allowed? Leashed dogs, yes. What if it rains? We are open rain or shine.
